SPD '12 - We are Young

Saturday was "SPD '12" according to the back of our t-shirts. I designed our t-shirts this year and I'll have to admit...they were pretty sweet if I do say so myself. They did cause some confusion amongst the impaired that night. There were many debating what they meant.

Not too difficult...

We spent the day at the in-laws hanging outside enjoying this beautiful summer like weather MN is currently hosting. It was nearly 80 degrees out. In March. In Minnesota. Unreal.

Jack had some March Madness and decided to learn to dunk at the tender age of 20 months. The boy has some skills.

We did venture out the the "Adult Party" later that night for about an hour. They had the streets closed off for SPD. There's just something about overflowing Biffy's that makes me run home screaming. Disgusting.

My future sister in law was hit on by the Triple D (dancing drunk dude), she had the best denial line of the night. It went something like this:

Triple D - "Hey beautiful, would you like to dance?" with a nice blurred vision twitch.

Future SIL - "I'm sorry, I've had diarrhea all day. I don't want to get you sick!"

An hour was long enough to hang out. Plus, the street vendor food truck man was out of Cheese Curds. Plus, we had to take home an intoxicated friend before he was sent to detox. Oh to be the responsible ones at the party.

I almost made it the entire night without an injury.

Almost.

You know that horrible feeling you get when your going down stairs and you miss a step? You know, mid air and you think to yourself "shoot, I think there's one more step...OUCH".

Yeah, that was me Saturday right before bed.

My poor little/fat/swollen toe.

Sorry if your grossed out by feet. I had to show you my fat, bruised toe. Ha, ha! Oh and ignore the botch paint job. I was in a hurry.

In case your wondering, yes, I can pick up a golf ball with my toes.

I just can't get enough of this song. It's been on repeat all weekend. The video is a bit strange but whateves.

Happy Birthday Babe!

Today is my Husband's Birthday.

Oh, how I love thee. Let me count the ways.

Your the BEST Dad I know.

You can do a pretty decent underwater handstand.

You are a sucker for a board game.

And apparently, the dunk tank.

You carry my purse when I ask...

You put up with my competitive side.

{We were cheering for different teams, I may or may not be the person giving his hat the finger...}

No explanation for this one.

You always say "yes" when I ask to play Ultimate Charades.

Most of all.

Your the best friend I could ask for.

Happy Birthday Babe!

Cheers to many more! You + me til the end!

SMOOOOOOOOOOOOCH!

The prettiest cupcakes you'll ever see....

Saturday morning, my girls decided they wanted to do something "fun".

My answer was "isn't every day  filled with fun around here?"

So I sent them to Pinterest. To find whatever desert they wanted to make. I told them to find something we could make for the Hubs birthday treat. His birthday is coming up so I thought this would be a good idea for a trial run!

Remember I told them to find what ever they wanted, anything.

I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. After searching all the pretty desserts and finding a nice rainbow jello shot complete with a cherry, (I made her unpin that one, told her that little jello treat included alcohol) they found their project of the day.

Tie Dye Cupcakes

This will be the cliff note version so bear with me. If you need more detailed instruction, go to the link above.

You'll need: 1 box of cake mix, 1 container of frosting, cup cake liners, food coloring and frosting tools (piping bag and tip).

1.  You just take your basic box mix, prepare batter as directed.
(We used a box of Betty Crocker Yellow Cake Mix.)

2.  Divide batter into separate bowls. The number of bowls will depend on how many different colors you want.

3.  Next, the fun part. You make each bowl the color you want, with food coloring. I would say, the brighter the color the better. Our pink was more of a dusty rose. Meh.
(We did 5 different colors total, but the original yellow batter we counted as a color.)

3. Get your cupcake liners into place, then put a spoonful of batter in each liner. Do not mix them, just place the colors on top of each other.

4. Fill the liners 2/3 full.

5. Bake as directed on the box.

6. Completely cool the cupcakes.

6.  Now time to get your frosting colors ready.
Divide your frosting into how ever many bowls you have for different colors. Add food coloring to make your desired color.

7. Add a spoonful of each color of frosting to your piping bag. Think of it as a circle. Add in accordingly. Make sure you add  a color to the middle too. Don't stress about this part though. It will work out in the end. Trust. Frost away!

(I didn't have a piping bag so I used a baggie and cut the corner to make my own. It did the job.)

(I need better frosting tools but whatever, this worked. I'm a rookie.)

8. Do not frost your cupcakes until they've cooled. They will turn out like this:

(I kind of like them like this.)

Overall, I thought these turned out pretty darn good for our first go at them. I found myself biting into a few of them just to see what the insides looked like. They were literally fun to eat. No worries, I gave most of them to my Hubby to finish. Your welcome babe!

Both girls have already requested these for their Birthday treats!

I think we'll have to keep looking for another Birthday Treat for the Hubs though. These don't exactly scream "Happy Birthday Dad" to me.

Product of the Week - Pure Illumination Lip Gloss

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Product of the Week - Pure Illumination Lip Gloss

I was introduced to this little gem last weekend. Not sure why I didn't think of it myself. This lip gloss is saweetness.

Pure Illumination is made by The Lano Company. Click here for their website. They even have light up nail polish...

There is a mirror AND led light built into the packaging. Let me tell you. Need to apply that gloss after dinner, all without leaving for the bathroom? Your golden. Sure the boys may make fun of you at the table and all the girls in the restaurant will stare with pure envy BUT you won't have it all over your face. This is pure genius I tell you.

{That is pretty much what you'll look like while applying.}

They say my lip gloss is poppin'
my lip gloss is cool
All the boys keep jocking
They chase me after school

The gloss itself is made up of lanolin, jojoba, sweet almond oil and vitamin e.  So smooth on your kisser.

$20 for this beaut but if you want to splurge or need a unique gift idea for a girlfriend, this is a very good option.

Link on up and share what you love.

Chicken Pot Pie recipe?

S.O.S.

I found what looked to be the best chicken pot pie recipe in all the land yesterday and I cannot remember nor find the blog I saw it on.

Help!

Anyone remember such thing? Help a sister out? Yes, I do realize how lame this is but people do strange things when they are desperate.

I will love you forever. Promise.

Reality junkie

Let me be honest. I love all things reality show. I can't help it.

If there was one reality show that I actually think I could do, it would be the Amazing Race.

I'm sure my anxiety would be through the roof and my Husband would have to do anything related to heights but that aside, I would LOVE it. I love this show.

This next season starts Feb. 19th. Get excited!

Today, I just saw that there will be two Big Brother reality stars.

Yep, BRENDON & RACHEL or like we like to call them BRENCHEL.

I'll admit, I absolutely despised these two on Big Brother. I was straight up furious they were even re-casted.  Something changed mid season and I actually felt like I wanted Rachel to win. Sure she does the whole "baby talk" which makes me want to pull my hair out but besides that, and the constant crying that drove me crazy I may root for them.

Maybe.

One thing's for certain - these two are competitive by nature. The show should be good. I cannot wait.
